DJ MODERNO BIO
German Ormaechea, Dj Moderno, is a recognized dj, producer, composer and musical intepreter with more than 20 years experience in the music industry.
He is a recognized electro/Indie DJ and producer and musician in Spain. He has been playing in main indie venues in Spain and publishing remixes for different indie bands both national and international during these 20 years. He is also releasing his own songs as Dj Moderno (electropop)
As musician he is currently playing bass guitarr , synths and singing with the project Dj Moderno (Live) , a trio that plays Dj Moderno own songs live
In adittion he is playing bass guitar with the bands Amyjo Doh&The Spangles, Turpin and Alpha Circle and releasing his own material and acting Live as as Dj Moderno
He was founder of the spanish electropop band HORTHY with whom he recorded 5 CD’s and has been member of different musical projects such as Igeldo, Caballo Prieto Azabache, Grey Souls, Los Hermanos Maravilla, Electrik Disco Noize,Cannonball, Mina Coto…
German regularly composes music for podcasts, advertisements, film soundtracks : short and long films, documentaries and many other events and has been awarded with different international recognitions:
- Best Soundtrack for Anamorphosis at New York City International Film Festival 2012
- Best Sound Design for LODO at Los Angeles Reel Festival 2011
- Best music and best musical video for “Puedo Sin Ti” at New York City International Film 2011
- Nominated with the videoclip of his song “Renton” at Madrid Indie Film Festival, Valencia Indie Film Festival, The Monthly Film Festival, Maracay Flim Festival

He continously releases remixes for indie/alternative bands such as Pixies, Flaming Lips, The Doors, Jesus and Mary Chain, Bauhaus, The Hives,Matt and Kim,Capital Cities, Miami Horror, Miss Kittin, Young Galaxy, We Are Standard, Buffet Libre, Grises, Estereotypo, Igeldo, Edourd Pernot, AngelPop, Columpio Asesino, Algora, Odio Paris, The Birkins, Pull My Strings, Algora, …. As a DJ he has shared cabin with DJS such as David Van Bylen, We are Not Djs, Bilbadino, Richard Collburn(Belle and Sebastian), Alex Murray (Chicks on Speed) , Peter Hook, EME DJ, Florent y yo (Los Planetas), Amable and a long etc….
He also produces, mixes and masters songs for other artists
As a Dj, Dj Moderno has played in the main indie venues around Spain and also has participated as DJ in different spanish festivals such as Gigante Fest, Sonorama, Barbeira Son, FIB, Palmfest, Festival ElectroPop, EasyPop Weekend, Electroperra, Tremendo Pop…
He acts with Abbleton Live and AKAI APC40 being able to build mashups and imposible mixes live
German played and composed music for the Madrid Cibeles Fashion Parade during the years 2007&2008 for the spanish designer Antonio Pernas. He also acted live for the Fashion parade by Roberto Verino during the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Madrid in 2017 2018 2019 & 2020.
Dj Moderno also performed several live acts in New York City during August 2011 including all events related to the New York City International Film Festival´s 2011 edition.
Only in 2022 he has played more than 200 dj sets including several festivals..

MUSIC COMPOSITION METHODS
German plays bass guitar, piano and sings. He uses musical software such as NUENDO, LOGIC, PROTOOLS, REASON and LIVE for composing, editing and mastering his songs.
Analog synthesizers (Moog, Korg, Nord) and different instruments are used while composing in his own Studio. In addition German has worked as a musical software teacher in different academies, sharing his knowledge about the applications he uses with others.
